Reduce, Reuse, Raccoon - Update v0.1


Hello, Trash Kings! This is the first devlog for our game Reduce, Reuse, Raccoon that was submitted to the 2024 Jingle Game Jam where we won ‘Best Gameplay’. Look! We even got this neat rosette to show for it!

Apart from the success in the game jam, (and much to our surprise) the game also topped out at #4 on ‘New & Popular’ on itch! With that in mind, we’ve decided the game deserves more time than the week we were given to complete it. 

We have a lot of things planned for the game that we will begin working on shortly, but for now here are some small fixes and updates that players have been asking for. 

▼ Bug Fixes

  • Raccoins no longer disappear if left on the table and the player leaves the shop, instead they will be added to your total. 
  • Items no longer disappear if left in the bag and the player leaves the shop, instead they will be returned to your collection. 
  • Fixed intro animation frame skipping. 

▼ Game

  • Added save data so now players can collect that sweet, sweet trash even after closing the browser.

▼ Items & Bag Openings

  • First bag opening contains a guaranteed uncommon or higher tiered item.
  • Added item names to the item catalogue page text box. 
  • Cassette cost increased from $1 → $10

▼ Shop

  • Customer walk speed increased from 1.0 → 1.15
  • The catalogue button now opens the navigation page instead of the items page. 

▼ UI

  • 'New Game' button - clears save data and starts a new game. 
  • 'Continue' button - continues the game from the last save. 
  • 'Back to Menu' button - returns the player to the menu screen.
  • 'Credits' button 

▼ Audio

  • Added ‘Collection Complete’ audio.
